Wolverine and Deadpool #28
The amount of Bad-Assery going on here... |
None of that is true, other than me purchasing this comic in WHSmiths (which seemed overstocked on it, it was spilling out the shelves).
Wolverine is mourning the death of his best blue buddy Nightcrawler (Kurt Wagner) - until he finds out what he has planned for him in his will. Can Wolverine lug a $20,000 piano up a mountain to it's final resting place in a church at the summit?
This is quite a sad sentimental journey for Wolverine, and it contains flashbacks to some of his poignant religious conversations with Kurt. The art is slightly softer than i would usually like - but nothing is lost on the beauty of the seascape and Logan's mourning in the first few pages. This is how a normal-length comic should be - memorable, iconic and full of life.
The Deadpool ones are Wade Wilson generally being a bad-ass, in which Wade double-crosses everyone and then quits his first real job.
However, it is the second comic (YES! This contains three comics! Wolverine and two issues of Deadpool!) that really catches my attention. It sort of acts as an origin story - Ghost Rider catches up with Wade and makes him remember his past - starting with his suicide attempt as a teenager, the discovery of his multiple tumors and his enrollment into the top-secret experiment that allows him to regenerate like Wolverine.
Awesome and, in true Deadpool fashion, quite witty, this comic wowed me more than the previous issue attached. again, another fantastic example of comics as they should be presented. As i said previously, available (in abundance) at WHSmiths.
LONDON Super Comic Convention
Holy crap. We get a huge comic convention? You mean it's not just MCM? Big, like the American conventions? Awwwwwww Yeah.
Still, it can't be that great. Its not like its going to have any major-league guests like Stan Lee...
Well played, America, Well played... |
Also there are a whole host of artist, comic book retailers and assorted persons of note. The convention will take place at the Excel Centre on February 25th and 26th. Tickets are available from www.londonsupercomicconvention.com - and a competition to win an audience with The man himself.
Excelsior.
